The double knee is the Carhartt pant that crossed over: built for carpenters with a second layer of duck at the front of each leg, and adopted by skaters and workwear collectors since. This pair was made in June 2005 and bought new at Mark’s in Canada that year. Two decades of wear have faded the dark brown duck to a soft, uneven brown with a mauve cast, lightest across the thighs and the knee panels, where the work happened. It has a hammer loop, a utility pocket, back patch pockets with the Carhartt “C” label, and the Dungaree Fit’s straight, easy leg.
There’s a small paint mark on the left knee panel, the kind of thing that turns up on pants that were actually worn for work.
